The PADI Underwater Hunter Specialty course can help you learn how to take fish, crabs or shellfish responsibly, safely, and legally. This course teaches you how to tell what area is open, what size is legal, and how to clean your catch. This course often includes a segment covering how to prepare and serve your catch as well. Academic Materials: Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife Hunting Regulations. Books dealing with Puget Sound Marine Life recipes are encouraged. Equipment Requirements: Students must provide all basic Scuba equipment. Depending upon what type of game this course emphasizes you may need to supply a speargun, a fish stringer, a crab gauge and/or a collection bag. Practical Training: Students
will conduct 2 dives focusing on hunting / collecting.
The Underwater Hunter Specialty certification
emphasizes correct, safe use of spearguns, gauges, and how to correctly interpret the laws governing Academic Training: You'll learn the basics of underwater hunting such as stalking, catching, cleaning, limits and seasons, with special emphasis on practical techniques. You'll learn underwater hunting dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and potential problems. You'll also learn how to care for and maintain your hunting equipment.
