Why Night Diver?

When you go night diving you'll see a whole new world. Even your local dive site takes on a new personality at night, as many different species of underwater creatures are active at night.

*Please note: Depending upon the location you choose to do the Night Diver Course at, you may be taking either a  PADI  or  SSI  course.  Both courses are interchangeable, and each is recognized by the other certification agency.  Purchase course materials for the agency your course will be conducted through.

*We highly recommend combining this course with the Underwater Photographer Specialty Course.

Prerequisite Certification:

Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification or qualifying certification from another organization

Minimum Age:

12 years old

Academic Materials:

Agency Specific Night Diver Crew Kit

Equipment Required:

Students must provide all basic Scuba equipment. Students must also provide the following: Primary Dive Light, Backup Dive Light, and Marker Light or Strobe.

Academic Training:

Students will complete Knowledge Reviews from the Agency Specific Night Diver text and (if applicable) watch the Night Diver video.  Students will have a final exam based upon the knowledge they've mastered during the homework and classroom time.

Practical Training:

Students will conduct three dives during dusk - full night hours. Students will learn night dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and potential problems. Students will also learn how to control their buoyancy, navigate and communicate at night. Since many of the plants and animals you'll see are different, you'll also get an introduction to nocturnal aquatic life.

Course Timetable:

This course can be concluded in as little as one evening, or can be scheduled over multiple evenings if the student wishes.
