Beginning Open Water Class
Learn to Dive
at Underwater SportsLearning to scuba dive is easy and fun! We have introduced thousands of people to diving in the Pacific Northwest and around the world. There are three steps in earning your Underwater Sports PADI Open Water Diver Certification: knowledge development, pool sessions, and open water!
Step One
Knowledge Development
During the first phase of your PADI Open Water Certification you develop an understanding of the basic principles of scuba diving. You learn things like: underwater safety, how pressure affects your body, and all about SCUBA gear. Knowledge development is done by e-learning from the comfort of your home. E-learning will be followed by a quick review from the instructor, on the first night of class, to make sure all questions are answered.
Step Two
Confined Water Pool Dives
Pool time is the first step in putting your knowledge into action. Here, you will learn how to assemble and don your gear, experience your first breath underwater and learn other various skills that will be needed when you head to open water. Pool time is another great way for the instructors and you to work out any personal gear issues so your experience is less stressful and more exciting.
Step Three
Open Water Dives
Phase three is putting everything you have learned into action! This is your chance to dive the Puget Sound and earn your PADI open water certificate. During open water dives, you will demonstrate the skills that you have been practicing in the pool to your instructor and in the end experience how beautiful the Pacific Northwest is underwater! Once all three phases are complete, you will have earned your PADI open water scuba diving certificate!
