at Underwater SportsTeaching scuba diving allows you to share your love of the aquatic world with others. PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors and PADI Assistant Instructors are the most sought-after dive professionals around the world because they’ve completed the program that sets the standard for training dive professionals.
prerequisites
- Must be a Divemaster for at least 6 months
- At least 60 logged dives to start the IDC and 100 dives to attend an IE.
- Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) training within the past 24 months.
- Medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months.
Academic
Over a period of five to seven days the IDC teaches you to conduct all PADI core courses. You’ll be able to organize and present information, conduct skill development sessions and control open water dives.

- PADI Standards and Procedures for courses you can teach with in-water workshops
- Learning the PADI System
- Risk Management and Diver Safety
- The Business of Diving and your role as an instructor
Instructor Examination
The PADI Instructor Examination (IE) is the final assessment for divers who have completed the Instructor Development Course (IDC). The exam consists of several components including written exams, classroom presentations and practical teaching skills in confined and open water. To pass, the candidates must demonstrate strong teaching skills and knowledge of dive related subjects.
Course Fee
Classes start at $2195 + tax. This includes the E-Learning students are required to finish prior to start of class and the crew pak.
Fee Excludes
- Customer is required to purchase any rental gear and personal items needed to complete the open water portion of the class
- Instructor Examination is not included. Price is subject to change.
- EFR instructor is required to complete course – must pay seperately.

Refund Policy:
If a refund is requested more than 72 hours before the start of class, $100.00 will be retained by Underwater Sports as a service fee. If a refund, or request to transfer to another class, is within 72 hours of the start date and time; there will be a $200.00 service fee. Once you have redeemed your online access code, we are unable to issue a refund for that portion.
